The Incredible Edible Egg
Remember a few days ago when I wanted to jump in front of a moving vehicle because of my hair? I'm over it thanks to eggs and boars. Srsly.
I came across a live journal forum for No 'Pooers. Live Journal completely confuses me. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to post on this board. Luckily, a zillion people had my exact same problem with what I like to refer to as Candle Head (waxy build-up) so I had plenty to read.
I came up with a concoction of 2 egg yolks, 1/4 c. skim milk, cinnamon and 6 drops of Tea Tree Oil. I mixed it all up and slowly applied it to my hair. Never in my life would I have imagined standing naked in the shower applying french toast to my hair. This is the stuff nightmares are made of. Or really bad comedies.
Anyway, I got it all in there and fucking shit it was cold. I scrubbed my scalp and my hair with my hands which were practically blue from the 40 degree mixture. Next was a rinse. Cold water rinse. If you use hot water, you're going to have scrambled eggs in your hair. Not good. Then I poured a white vinegar/water solution (about 1:10 ratio) from my scalp on down to the bottom of my hair. I let it sit for a few minutes, probably like 2 because at this point I'm popsicle-like. Another cold rinse and I was done.
I could tell a difference immediately. My hair felt lighter. It felt cleaner despite the fact that I did end up having to scrape some egg nastiness out of my "clean" hair.
The next day my hair was dry and looked better. Not fantastic, but definitely an improvement. Later in the day, Joe Simpson (not really his name, but that's what our family has named him), the best mailman on the planet, brought me what I've been waiting for... my boar bristle hairbrush! I started using it as soon as I could get it out of the packaging. It was like Christmas and my birthday all wrapped up into one. I was stoked.
Leading to this morning, I decided to use very diluted baking soda to wash my hair and white vinegar to rinse. I gently brushed my hair in the shower trying to break up the last of the wax. It worked! When my hair dried, it was the softest and prettiest it has ever been!
FINALLY!
I must be out of the detox period because this is the kind of hair I always wanted! It's as soft as my baby's hair and my scalp is finally healthy. Success! I'm hoping that this isn't some sort of freak day and it will continue repeating forever because I am SO FREAKING HAPPY!
