Frigidaire SUCKS

This monster

Will be the death of me.

How many times should a washing machine need to be fixed in two years? Granted, we're a bigger-ish family and we cloth diaper so we do a considerable amount of laundry, but seriously! How many times can something go wrong? Apparently, with Frigidaire, it's a lot.

Thanks to my friend Google I think I have found the reason why this piece of junk won't spin. Of course, it's a teeny tiny piece that keeps the door locked. I wish I could just reason with this thing. Our conversation would go something like this

Me: Hey, I know that you're refusing to spin because of this whole lock situation, but let me assure you, I will not open the door while you're spinning. I promise.
Washer: Oh, as long as we can agree. Throw in another load and I'll cooperate this time.

See how easy it could be? But no. I'm stuck wringing out my clothes by hand until my hands are red and immobile until we can either order this part or bring our washer into a repair shop.

Oh yes, I'm that kind of cheap that won't pay for someone to drive 5 minutes down the street to check out the washer. It's an $80 charge! To drive 5 minutes! This irritated Big Daddy so he asked them why it costs so much. They said they had to pay for the wear and tear on the work truck, gas and car insurance. He said "I'll just come pick you up then," but that didn't fly either. So either we'll be doing it ourselves or dragging it up the stairs and over to the repair shop. Not the repair shop that he got all snarky with though. I would fear for our machine.

Until then, it's frostbitten hands and cursing like a sailor to get me through the loads. Fun times.

  1. Have you tried duct taping the door shut?

  2. We ended up taking it in and they fixed it with a broken switch. Then they fixed it again with a good one. She's back in the basement now and washing the cloth diapers as I type. I have a weeks worth pile of laundry to do now. Fun times!
